VACATION due to Global Crisis, Hell YA!!

This year (2009) will be the year of what I called as "how to keep our job saved" coz so many cut cost and cut people has been done by major company to survive in this crisis era.

After finishing one well in Chevron operation, finally my Manager sent me to vacation, and, it’s not just a usual vacation man, it’s a whole month VACATION, Whoa.. that's something!. I always hold a firm belief that we must have some balance in our lives; some sort of yin and yang in equal measure. For sure, I will use this opportunity as far as I can to balance my lives, both mentally and physically, worldly and heavenly.
As for my life, now, I am not a lonely ranger anymore….I have a wife with me, a future family to raise, a “tonto” (my damn cute motorcycle) to ride, and a lot of family planning that I need to do.

Now, the question is: Why the hell I got this whole month vacation opportunity? The answer was quite simple; basically it was one of the impacts due to the Global Crisis that we are facing at the moment.
As we know, since USA, as the biggest oil consumer, had a major financial Crisis, the effects were enormous to all of the sectors, including for me who works basically to drill oil reservoirs.

When we had an oil price boom in June 2008, i.e: US$ 147/ barrel, Oil companies around the globe were partying hard. With this huge boom on oil price, the manufacturers have to increase their production cost at the same time, thus resulting the high price of the products. Now, when USA, as the biggest consumer of that products having recession, then who will buy all of that high price products? Nobody, so as long as US purchasing power still in bad condition, then we can’t have such high expectation in the increasing of oil price.

thea ngel ऑफ़ my life

From out of the bluey sky, I noticed this angel from my college times in ITS surabaya. She was not like everybody else, there was something special about her which I could not resist.

I was stunned to see an angel of my life with her modest akhlakul karimah covered by blue Jilbab. She's very pretty, indeed....Thus, I whispered to myself "I will marry her someday, someday....dude...". I just need to wait that perfect time for me to complete the half DIEN of us, The sacred agreement which Quran called as Mitsaqan Qaliza, the great decision to be made as one of the Allah' creatures.

As for my life, I found out that It was not easy to wander alone in this world and not lose one's way, but the greatest happiness of all is in giving joy to one's we really loved. With half part of me found on her, I felt completeness in my life, and suddenly everything felt so easy.

So, there we were, after graduated from ITS, we travelled to different paths of the world. As for me, I chose to work in Oilfield service company, thus, she worked in the telecommunication company. With a big hoe on my mind that someday I can propose her to marry me....

Before i knew you,
I was nothing.
Now I am everything,
With you at my side,
We are invincible....

And if the king can have his throne,
and if the bird can have his Spring nest,
And if Shah Jahan can have His Mumtaz Mahal,
and God can have his heaven,
then I, my sweetheart, I can have you....InsyaAllah...

laskar pelangi

Laskar Pelangi (LP),...dude, this was the first tetralogy novel that I managed to read from scratch until the end(ie: Laskar Pelangi, Sang Pemimpi, Edensor, and at last after a long awaiting : Maryamah karpov finally published). To be honest, I'm not that book-lover typical of guy, but this time I have to admit that Laskar pelangi really risen my eagerness to read it. It really reminds me about my so called tough and rough schooling times with the one that Andrea's had in his youth times as LP member.
At some point, this book made me more and more realize about the power of dreams, that we can become everything that we want to be as long as we have guts to reach it. If you see a successful person, don't see him/her as what he is now at the moment, but just see him a as a usual person who fight hard to reach the success based on nature law, of course with Allah bless. Thus, a power to make a difficult stuff into a simple stuff is really one of the core of this book. So, the point is: Always have a dream built in you, Believe that you can reach it, and always KISS (Keep it Simple Silly!!)

Finally, What we became right now, it's a puzzle that we managed to arrange ...and for us, part of our so called the member of chain of poverty,....we ought to have a dreams, because if we don't have it, then we'll just become nothing.....that's the core values I got from this masterpice novel....the real master piece from Indonesian master writer indeed.

Tour of DUTY to Iran

Tour of Duty....

I remembered in my childhood times, there was an interesting movie series called Tour of Duty, it was a series about American Army who came to Vietnam as part of their duty to defend their nation.
As for my personal life, I'm not working as an army troops by the way,but I work as an Engineer who moves a lot, so , the same thing I guess, ...Tour of my Duty....and my tour of duty wasgoing to Iran as my next assignment.

Iran, one of the Syiah country in the planet...it was so happening I had a change to work there for a couple of month. As we all knew, Iran with its powerful Syiah, courageous President, beautiful scenery, milestone history of oil and gas industry and many other more in some sense attracting me a lot to come there.
So, when my manager called me and said, ...." Ziyad, your next assignment will be in Iran....". I Just smiled, with no mumbo jumbo, I accepted that offering.
When I took a look on the daily news nowadays, I found out another attractive point of Iran in conjunction with Hisbullah. Hisbullah was also one of the Syiah-based political party in Lebanon.
When Lebanon was devastated by Israel, surprisingly, from out of the blue, Hisbullah came up to surface and manage to supply a cash financial support to rebuild houses and economy, this is something that even our country, Indonesia, couldn't do so far. Iran by that time was able to help Hisbullah warrior in Lebanon with all military necessities, great financial support, and great brotherhood among syiah country, and as one of the lion that dare to challenge the USA.

As for life, I always expect that someday, Moslem can be united as one, and for sure which ever part of our Moslem body is hurt, then all part of the body is hurt....no matter whether you are sunni or syiah.
At one point, I guess I'm quite a tough guy, but in another side I'm weak as well.. I kinda miss my family backhome, no matter how much I like staying here, still I need and always coming home..C'est la vie... that's life ,my Friend!!!!

How to grow up in a company.......

Nothing special in my daily lives, just doing my usual job as a Field Engineer, of course in the field. Hey, I just read an interesting article about a CEO of Total E&P, this is a multinational Oil company based in france.

The interesting part was that he started his career at this company, grow up in the same company, help to build the company while in mid-crysis era, until now he became the top Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. For sure this was a brand new perspective for me. Because as far as my concern, nowadays, the trend is, in order to grow up on your discipline then you have to get as many as opportunities you can get outside your zone. Well, this was something interesting for me, cause from where I live this perspective is really upside down. You have to move to many different company to catch those opportunities in order to become big.

Based on that article, opportunities will not be limited by a company, but it is truly limited by our own flexibility and ability to adapt to a new changes. So, eventhough you stay in one company but if you eager enough to face those opportunities and challenges within the company, I believe we can become big there as well. well, you know what they said, "slow and steady win the race".....The only way to become successfull is to accept the change s within a company, eventhough sometimes in a crisis era, try to tackle the problems, and try to be able to move from old perspective to a new one. It surely will make the day and night of our hard work really worthwhile in that company.

These things has given me a relaxed perspective and certain relativity about how to grow up in a company. The company now is not the same as 10 years ago, and surely will be a different story in 2040. Because nowadays, we live in a very rapidly changing world, that only the survivor of these changes will survive. Well for me, cause I'm still new in my company, and have no plan to move to other company, it will be a good reference for me to grow in my company now.....hopefully....

Face the failures!!!

Halo again, this is me again, and still me.

After a long while working in the field, apparently a habit of continusly learning is a must, man. I'm telling you, it's a must.

On my profession as a Field Engineer, I need to run the tools, eventhough it's already become my common sense to run the tools, yeaah....almost, but still problem occured, and if we can't handle it and become something that over our head, then for sure, failure will occur as well. And believe me, if you work in a multinational company like me, FAILURE is the last thing you want to see.

And now, these kind of things have made me became more and more patient, eventhough how difficult our situation are, but we have to keep our head still and stay calm....yeah man, keep cool, calm, and confident no matter what.

For some time, these condition frustated me a lot, trying to find the best solution, getting so much pressure from the boss and other personnel, that's really typical of a field work indeed.

But after sometimes, it became normal thing. As long as you know what you're doing, keep consistent in it, try to troubleshoot as far as you can go, don't play fast and loose, then eventually it will be like riding a bycycle., never forget how to do it.

Oke mate, this kind of things helped me to grow up, hopefully by sharing this, it will strenghthen our spirit in a new world....Peace.....

My first Ramadhan Experience in Working-environment

Ramadhan is coming......this is my first Ramadhan fasting experience in field working environment, last year I still had my Ramadhan fasting in a college environment along together with my friends.

I missed those times, rough and tough times actually, because we don't have enough money. I remembered that we have to "hunt" for fast breaking from one mosque to another for 30 days, some of my friends made Ramadhan greetings card to sell, not to mention we have to attend class in the morning, sleepy hours....ha ha ha...

By doing this actually we can save some money for the next month, and it was a great gift for every each and one of us.

Having friends in the same condition and vission really built my spiritual improvement, we did shalat tarawih together, jamaah shalat together, struggling to hunt fast breaking and sahur together..everything together. And I have to admit that those kind of togetherness really motivated me to do the best for my spiritual life, but now i have to do it alone, nobody will remind me to have tarawih, etc....all by my self.....and it was hard for me to motivate myself cause its part of myself so called culture. I can say that I always live in a comfort zone, but now I have to live outside those comfort zone, it's tough but sure will try hard.

And hopefully this year I can finish my fasting month as a better person for me, my family, my friends, my religion...sighh...Hopefully.
